The EngEx operated from 2014 – 2020. It matched community groups with engineers and built environment specialists, and brought them together to tackle problems facing London communities. The EngEx helped with initial project scoping, and provided support with achieving deliverables. It supported a range of research projects looking at topics including air quality, demolition of social housing, green infrastructure, neighbourhood planning, transport and waste, among others.

The Engineering Exchange was funded by UCL’s Faculty of Engineering and the UCL Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment. It also received public engagement grants from the EPSRCNERC and the Royal Academy of Engineering.
